National Assembly leader of Minority Francis Nyenze Disowned by Wiper Party

The Wiper Party on Monday disowned comments made by National Assembly leader of Minority Francis Nyenze, endorsing President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to Party officials, Nyenze had unilaterally made the comments and would be summoned to explain if he had defected from the party.

Nyenze had over the weekend alongside Kitui gubernatorial aspirant David Musila publicly endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta stating that he (Uhuru) deserved a second term.

“If somebody does well to you, you can’t forget. Can you forget those who have done well like Uhuru Kenyatta?” posed Nyenze during the launch of a National Youth Service (NYS) programme in Kitui.

“Let’s not be swayed by politics of empty rhetoric by those alleging President Uhuru hasn’t worked well. The truth is Uhuru has done a lot and we’ll elect those whose work can be seen” said Nyenze.

Wiper leaders led by Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior accused Nyenze of playing to the gallery and questioned the timing of his endorsement.

“We all can see the timing of this endorsement. Soon after securing the Wiper nomination certificate and clearance by IEBC, how come Mr Nyenze wasn’t bold enough to say that before party primaries?” argued Kilonzo.

Kilonzo claimed that Nyenze’s plan was to rock the National Super Alliance (NASA) from within in favour of Jubilee.

Musila had on his part claimed that his comments that seemed to show he supported President Kenyatta's re-election, had been taken out of context.

He reiterated that he was an Independent candidate and had not endorsed Uhuru or anyone else for the top job.
