Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero to Arrest Senator Mike Sonko Over Vandalism Claims

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero on Tuesday threatened to arrest his rival Senator Mike Sonko over claims that he (Sonko) was vandalizing water pipes in the city.

The Governor explained that Sonko was playing politics by pretending to be providing solutions to the water problem in Nairobi.

The Nairobi County boss indicated that the Senator was vandalising water pipes belonging to the Nairobi City County to get water and warned him to stop or risk being arrested by the County.

"He is getting the water through vandalising pipes belonging to Nairobi water and making the situation even worse by supplying water whose hygienic condition cannot be ascertained.

"We are going to arrest him and his team if he continues vandalising the water pipes," Kidero stated.

He (Kidero) explained that supplying water by trucks would not solve the problem in Nairobi as that was just 'like a drop in the ocean'.

The governor's warning came only a few days after Senator Sonko accused the governor of continued failure.

Earlier this week, Sonko took a swipe at the governor accusing him of continued failure. He (Sonko) noted that the governor had laxity in implementing the recently passed Water Bill and hence the reason for water shortage in the city.

The Senator vowed that he would not sit back and watch his people suffering. As a result, Sonko through his team have been supplying water to city residents.
