DP William Ruto Given 2 Conditions Before Visiting Mt Elgon

Deputy President William Ruto has been given two strict conditions before touring Mt Elgon region which is a Jubilee backyard.

First, Ruto has been cautioned against endorsing any candidates during the tour but should rather leave the decision to the electorates.

One of the candidates in the area Harry Kimutai asked the DP to visit the region to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta but avoid imposing any politician.

He maintained that the region was firmly in Jubilee and would vote for President Kenyatta but insisted that the voters should be left to chose the grass root leaders on their own.

“The people of Mt Elgon have said they do not want the old leadership that has denied them meaningful change. They said they want me to redeem them. We don't want Ruto to interfere by campaigning for anyone when he visits,” he told a local daily.

Secondly, Mr Kimutai told DP Ruto to ensure the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the area are compensated during the tour like it happened in other areas.

The politician further commended the Jubilee administration for what he called an impressive development record.

President Kenyatta and Ruto have been traversing the country hunting for votes as they seek re-election during the August General Election.
