Mount Kenya Foundation Sues NASA Co-principal Musalia Mudavadi

National Super Alliance (NASA) Co-principal Musalia Mudavadi has been taken to court over remarks he made linking a Kenyan organisation to the ballot paper printing tender.

Mount Kenya Foundation accused Mudavadi of defaming them after he stated that they were part of the alleged conspiracy to award Dubai-based Al Ghurair company the tender to print ballot papers.

“On 14 Jun 2017, you published and/or caused to be published a libelous and defamatory article titled, “NASA press statement: Award of tender to Al Ghurair print and publishing company,” read part of the court paper.

Mudavadi had claimed the organization owned a secret office situated in Nairobi's Parklands area used for Jubilee party affairs by poweful individuals.

He stated that the offices of the organisation are accessed only by Jubilee polticians among them President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and businessman Chris Kirubi.

Mudavadi also claimed that IEBC Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba and Director of Elections Operations Ms Immaculate Kassait report regularly to State House in what the Opposition suspects is a scheme to rig the coming elections.

Chiloba and Kassait are alleged to have met directors of AL-Ghurair to discuss the ballot printing tender that was later awarded to the firm in what the Opposition has termed irregular and suspect.

NASA also claimed that the company has close links with the Kenyatta family and called on the IEBC to cancel the Sh2.5 Billion ballot paper tender.
