KNUT Chairman Mudzo Nzili Statement on Secretary General Wilson Sossion ODM Nomination

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Chairman Mudzo Nzili has abandoned the union's Secretary General Wilson Sossion on his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) parliamentary nomination.

In a statement on Thursday, the Chairman distanced the union from politics, stating that KNUT neither supports the National Super Alliance (NASA) nor the ODM Party.

He clarified that Sossion's presence on the ODM list did not in any way indicate that the union is politically aligned with NASA.

Mr Nzili's statement came days after KNUT leaders from Central Kenya declared their support for the Jubilee party.

On Tuesday, KNUT leaders from Kiambu county called for Sossion to resign from the union and join the Opposition formally as they declared their support for President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election.

Sosssion has also been accused of having funded the NASA coalition with Sh300 Million from the teachers' union kitty.

He dismissed the claims as false during a NASA rally in Bomet earlier on in the week.
