Chaos in Mandera as Jubilee and Economic Freedom Party Supporters Clash

A rally that was scheduled to be addressed by President Uhuru Kenyatta was on Saturday temporarily interrupted after chaos and violence erupted.

The chaos were sparked off by the bitter rivalry between supporters of Jubilee Party and the Economic Freedom Party (EFP).

Supporters of the rival camps which have candidates for various posts in the region engaged in confrontations and shouting matches despite the heavy presence of police officers.

Earlier on, members of the two parties sat on separate sides of the venue with Jubilee donning red and EFP donning blue and white.

Police moved in swiftly to take care of the situation, restoring relative calm and order

At the time of the chaos, the President who is also scheduled to address rallies in Wajir and Mandera had not arrived at the venue.

Uniting all parties supporting President Kenyatta's reelection under one umbrella has at some point proved to be a nightmare.

Violent confrontations and standoffs have been witnessed in different rallies as supporters of different candidates take their supremacy battles to the campaign trail.
