President Uhuru Kenyatta to Visit 30 Counties in 12 Days Before 2017 August Election

President Uhuru Kenyatta will embark on a 12-day tour of Kenya that will end on August 6th – 48 hours before the August 8 elections. 

According to a statement from State House, on the last day of his campaigns, which will be two days to the polls, President Kenyatta will be leading an ultimate campaign caravan in Nairobi.

The Nairobi rally will mark the end of an intense 12-day tour, making about 400 stops in Kenya alongside Deputy President William Ruto.

President Kenyatta will have covered 30 counties, making stops at more than 200 campaign stops as DP Ruto covers select counties making another 200 campaign stops.

The official campaign period prescribed by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will end on August 6.

The President and his team kicked off their last charge in Nyeri and Murang'a counties on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the Jubilee team will kick off campaigns in Marsabit and Samburu Counties with the trail docking in Kakamega and Bungoma counties on Thursday.

President Kenyatta will then tour Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo counties on Friday covering Embu, Kirinyaga and Kiambu, areas perceived as Jubilee zones, on Saturday.

Sunday will see the vote hunt move to Nakuru, Nyandarua and Laikipia counties, later starting the week in Rongai, Kiserian, Ngong and Nairobi.

The team will traverse Bomet and Kericho on August 1, before returning to Mount Kenya regions of Meru, Tharaka and thereafter head to Kitui on Wednesday.

The home-stretch days of early August will see them cover Opposition dominated regions of Kilifi and Mombasa before wooing voters in Kisii, Nyamira and Kuria on August 4.

August 5 will find them in DP Ruto's Rift Valley backyard in Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties before the final day back in Nairobi.

According to State House, the President will also give over 40 radio interviews within the 12 days.
