Youth Threaten to Burn Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi's Son During Funeral

There was drama at a funeral service in Meru County when angry youth threatened to burn alive Tigania East Member of Parliament Mpuru Aburi's son Rodgers Mpuru.

Chaos erupted at St. Peter Catholic Church in Giithu during the funeral service of a teacher who had been brutally murdered by unknown assailants.

The youth who were reported to be highly intoxicated were seemingly angered by Tigania East parliamentary candidate on a PNU ticket Josphat Gichunge alias Kabeabea’s alarming statements about the murder of the teacher.

“Our son kandura was murdered by my opponent Mpuru because of his political persuasion,” he stated.

At that point, the youth who were moving around the church began chanting against Rodgers baying for his blood.

“We’ll set you on fire today!” they declared.

The situation escalated when Imenti Central lawmaker Mwiti Irea urged the youth to deal ruthlessly with the person alleged to have committed the murder.

“I wonder what kind of a person kills people and still wants their votes?” Mwiti added.

When reached for comment, MP Mpuru defended himself saying he had nothing to do with the murder of the teacher.

He accused Kabeabea of sensing early defeat and using all available means to seek votes.

Also in attendance during the burial were the lawmaker and Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi.
