Comedian Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o has today penned a touching letter to Embakasi East Member of Parliament-elect Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino advising him on how to proceed after winning in last week's election.
In an Instagram post, Jalang'o congratulated Babu for undertaking a well-orchestrated campaign and eventually winning the contest.
”First and foremost congratulations! You pulled it through! You did put up a massive campaign, powerfully crafted and finally delivered!” Jalang'os post read in part.
The radio personality further went a head to advise the former University of Nairobi Student Leader that being an MP was different from being a student leader.
In the post, Jalang'o notes that being a legislator, Babu has the life of Embakasi people entrusted to him and as such, he needed to rebrand in order to make Embakasi East great again.
The comedian expresses confidence in Mr Ongili and urges him to soldier on and represent his constituents "gracefully".
"National politics is a whole different ball game! Too different from the previous leadership positions you’ve held like SONU.
"The people of Embakasii have entrusted you with their lives and believe that you can deliver which I know you can! Their needs are very different from those of students at UON.
"You must now start creating and rebranding yourself to mheshimiwa Babu Owino MP Embakasi, not Babu wa SONU! Make Embakasi great again (MEGA)Youths wants jobs, women want to grow their business, the men want to provide for their families and all this is up to you to represent them in the House! Go for it! Represent them gracefully!” he stated.
Jalang'o concluded his post by explaining that if Babu rebranded and represented his constituents well, he could end up in greater offices in future citing Nairobi Governor-elect Mike Sonko who started as an MP but rebranded and was elected the next Nairobi Governor.
"Look at how Governor Sonko metamorphosed from wall punching to cleaned up Hon. See what happened Nairobi did not think twice! He is Governor! With your 3 degrees, 2 PhDs and 7 Diplomas I can only see success!" he submitted.
