NASA Plans to Control Kwale County Assembly to Quash Governor Salim Mvurya's Support

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has come up with a plan to quash the support for Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya.

The Alliance is reportedly planning to take the County Assembly Speaker position to neutralise Mvurya who was re-elected on a Jubilee ticket despite the region being a NASA stronghold.

According to former gubernatorial aspirant Nicholas Zani, who unsuccessfully vied on ODM ticket, the Alliance plans to control the Assembly which is dominated by Opposition members.

Zani divulged that after consultations, he had decided to run for the Speaker's seat in order to ensure the plan is successful.

During the concluded polls, the Opposition managed to get 13 ward representatives in Kwale while Jubilee got seven.

The seat has also attracted two other contenders including lawyer Rafael Chimera who equally divulged that he was consulting before making his final decision.

Chimera affirmed that he was qualified for the seat given his legal background noting that he hoped the Speaker's race would not be political.

"With a background in law, together with experience in public service and financial management, I know I am up to the task," he stated.

In response, Governor Mvurya maintained that he was not scared of the plan adding that the county was mature and would not bow to influence from external forces.
