IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati Speaks on Secretly Meeting NASA Principals at Night

IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati has finally spoken on claims that he has been secretly meeting National Super Alliance (NASA) principals at night.

In a tweet, Chebukati dismissed the claims noting that the utterances were “baseless and reckless".

He further noted that he is focused on ensuring that Kenyans go to the polls on October 17th, adding that he would not relent in his course.

"They shall not succeed to derail me from the immediate goal I have of delivering to Kenyans free, fair and credible election," Chebukati stated.

Claims of the IEBC Chair secretly meeting NASA leaders were first made by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday.

Speaking during a rally at Kapkatet, Kericho, the Jubilee Senator accused the Opposition coalition of not being ready for the fresh presidential election stating that the Supreme court decision had made the Kalenjin block unite more to vote back President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Chebukati is secretly meeting with NASA principals at night,” Murkomen disclosed.

Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday also accused Chebukati of secretly meeting NASA leaders at night ahead of the October elections.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, the DP accused Chebukati of working with the opposition ahead of the repeat presidential election.

"I'm aware Chebukati is meeting NASA leaders at night. That could be why he is sending messages here and there, sensational memos.

"I'm asking him to stop the writing memos and concentrate on delivering a credible election,” Ruto stated.
