Raila Suffers Huge Setback as Kisii Leaders Endorse President Uhuru Kenyatta

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has suffered another major setback after leaders in Kisii County met President Uhuru Kenyatta and offered him full backing in the upcoming elections.

The leaders met Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto in Nakuru on Wednesday where they vowed to support Jubilee in the fresh Presidential elections slated for October 17.

Odinga had hoped to get votes from Kisii by banking on the President's fall out with Chief Justice Maraga, who hails from the region.

The Head of State has severally warned Maraga after the Supreme Court nullified his win in the August 8 elections.

Members of the opposition criticised the president for threatening the Judiciary and believed the Kisii region would vote in NASA's favour as a way of teaching the president a lesson.

Several leaders who took to the podium in Nakuru including Chris Obure and Omingo Magara stated that the opposition lacked a plan for the nation and urged voters to elect Kenyatta.

This comes just a few days after a section of Kamba leaders met the President at State House where they also promised him full backing in the elections.

Uhuru's team has been on a renewed drive to win support from regions perceived to be Opposition strongholds as well as sway political leaders from supporting NASA leader Raila Odinga.

Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto ditched Odinga for the Jubilee Party while former Meru Governor Peter Munya also returned to Uhuru's side after a week-long stay in the Opposition.
