Martha Karua in Court on Claims of Tampering with DP William Ruto's ICC Case

Former Gichugu MP Martha Karua has denied any involvement in procuring witnesses to testify against Deputy President William Ruto in the ICC case.

Karua, in a case filed in the High Court, denied the claims made by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

The former Justice Minister also denied allegations that she met with any ICC officials who came to Kenya to investigate the 2007/2008 post-election violence.

She further stated that attempts to get the Gatundu lawmaker to apologise and retract his statements went unheard.

"Despite demanding an apology from the legislator, he continued making the same malicious statements against me which were widely published locally and internationally," Karua told the court through her lawyer Gitobu Imanyara.

The former lawmaker gave her testimony during the hearing of her defamation suit against Kuria.

The vocal Gatundu MP sensationally claimed that he and Karua had procured witnesses to testify against the DP as he faced charges of the 2007 violence.
