A section of Jubilee women leaders in Meru County has promised to carry out door-to-door campaigns in the region to ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta wins the October 26 election.
Speaking on Friday in Meru town, Maendeleo ya Wanawake chair Kanana Nteere noted that the group was determined to do all it takes to ensure that Mr Kenyatta is re-elected.
"We have an elaborate campaign machinery system of 100 elected women leaders who are set to spearhead door to door campaigns in the 45 wards," she stated.
They noted that Kenyatta's Presidency had promoted women development in various ways including free maternity, mobile clinics, table banking, NHIF, free Primary and Secondary education and conducive working environments.
Ms Nteere further indicated that Mr Kenyatta constant call for peace and unity had boosted their allegiance to his presidential bid.
Besides the door to door campaign, the women will actively be involved in sensitizing voters in remote parts of the region.
Her sentiments were reiterated by Secretary Lucy Mukaria, Treasurer Jennifer Kathure, Meru Women Leaders Empowerment Forum Chair Eunice Karema and former Njia Ward MCA.
The women further told off National Super Alliance (NASA) for giving IEBC conditions ahead of the presidential election.
"The Commission should be allowed to conduct credible elections without interference from any quarters," Mrs Nteere noted.
