Drama as NASA MPs Threatened with Gun During Demos

There was drama on Monday when two National Super Alliance (NASA) MPs were threatened with a gun during anti- IEBC demonstrations in Makueni County.

The two legislators: Joshua Kimilu (Kaiti) and Thaddeus Nzambia  (Kilome) were confronted by Makindu DCIO Jimmy Kimaru as they were leading demonstrators at Makindu shopping center along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

A standoff ensued when Mr Kimaru tried to arrest the legislators while brandishing his gun. He demanded the NASA MPs to get out of their cars but they objected.

In Nairobi, one person was shot after reportedly trying to snatch a phone while three others were injured when a speeding ran them over.

Witnesses claim the man was trying to snatch the phone from a motorist who happened to be a police officer.

The demonstrators condemned the incident after which they moved to Uhuru Park where they were addressed by among others Siaya Senator James Orengo.

Meanwhile, in Machakos, six NASA supporters have been arraigned in court after they participated in the anti-IEBC demonstrations.

They are facing a charge of taking part in an illegal demonstration.
