NASA Leader Forced to Hold Anti-IEBC Demos Alone

A National Super Alliance (NASA) leader from Kitale, Trans Nzoia County was on Monday forced to hold anti-IEBC demonstrations alone.

Former MCA aspirant Josphat Barasa took to the streets of the agricultural town and protested against IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba.

Mr Barasa's one-man show caused a stir in the quiet Jubilee stronghold owing to the fact that he is completely blind.

Mr Barasa went around the town calling for Chiloba's resignation as the rest of the town remained peaceful.

The NASA politician vied and lost in the Ford-Kenya nominations to contest as the Tuwan Ward representative, an area that is in the same constituency where the IEBC CEO hails from.

"Being alone shows that I'm peaceful and I'm not causing any disturbance," Barasa stated, adding that it is not a constitutional requirement for people to protest as a group.

The blind politician urged people living with disabilities to take a more active role in the country's political discussions.

He told reporters that his solo-protest was also a call for decision-makers in the county to include people living with disabilities in advocating for change.

Meanwhile, the anti-IEBC demonstrations in Narok County flopped after youth failed to turn up for the protest.

The NASA supporters outrightly defied an invitation issued by Opposition point men Senator Ledama Ole Kina and Narok North MP Moitalel Ole Kenta.

The leaders, however, called a press conference to save face and informed the public that the agenda for the day had changed.

"We are not here to demonstrate, we are here to put our house in order by electing new officials who will, in turn, organize for a mega demonstration," Senator Ledama explained.
