3 NASA Supporters Shot Dead as Demos Turn Chaotic

Three people have been shot dead and three others seriously wounded after police battled National Super Alliance (NASA) anti-IEBC demonstrators in Siaya County.

The six were shot after protesters allegedly attempted to storm Bondo Police Station.

Nyanza Regional Coordinator Wilson Njega confirmed the shooting adding that the three wanted to loot.

Elsewhere, two people were also shot and injured in Migori County after protests turned chaotic.

The two, a 70-year-old woman Jeniffer Njenda, and a boda-boda operator have been admitted to Ombo Hospital for treatment.

Migori police boss denied the shooting stating that he was investigating to determine if his officers shot anyone.

"I am still finding out if my officers shot the victims," Migori County Commandant Joseph Nthenge told the Nation,

The Opposition today held protests countrywide contrary to acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i's order banning the protests.

In Kisumu County, gunshots rented the air in Kondele as police engaged the protesters in running battles.

The police blocked the opposition supporters from accessing the Central Business District resulting to the chaos.

In Nairobi, police officers on Friday lobbed teargas at Opposition leader Raila Odinga Capitol Hill offices.

The officers fired the teargas at NASA leaders who had converged and were preparing to head into the CBD to hold anti-IEBC demos.

During the same incident, an NTV cameraman was harrassed and his camera confiscated by one of the officers.

The situation was similar in Mombasa after leaders who took to the streets were dispersed by police before they could mobilise more supporters.

On Thursday, CS Matiang'i banned all demos in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu CBDs on grounds that the protesters were robbing people and destroying businesses.

NASA leaders have, however, insisted that the demos will continue until IEBC implements their reforms.
