Jubilee MP Condemns Matiang'i and Boinnet's Actions

Cherangany Member of Parliament (MP) Joshua Kutuny has come out to strongly oppose acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i's ban on NASA demonstrations and the handling of the demonstrations by the police.

He divulged that he believed Jubilee's strategy was flawed and served to boost National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga's message to his supporters.

Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke, he stated: "We as Jubilee are playing to NASA's hands. Raila is not a new politician, we are allowing him to portray this government as dictatorial and murderous."

He called for Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to urge his men to retreat so as to prevent any more bloodshed.

Kutuny further appealed to the Jubilee leadership to rethink its strategy so as to truly unite the country.

Matiang'i on Tuesday last week banned protests by the National Super Alliance in the Central Business Districts of Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa.

The Police, on the other hand, have been criticized for their handling of the protests and have been accused of police brutality.

On Friday last week, three NASA supporters were shot dead in Bondo while three others sustained serious gunshot wounds.

Boinnet explained the killings by stating that the protesters were advancing towards a police station and were treated as criminals attempting to steal firearms.

NASA has begun daily protests to push for changes at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ater a declaration that there would be no elections on October 26th.
