IEBC Discloses What Will Happen in Polling Stations Where Nobody Votes

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Vice-Chairperson Consolata Nkatha on Saturday revealed what would happen in polling stations where no voting takes place.

While receiving the first batch of presidential ballot papers at JKIA on Saturday evening, Ms Nkatha stated that the commission would hold the election in accordance with the law.

"We are not aware that there will be no voting anywhere, so if there's a zero it is a zero," she explained.

She further addressed the question of where the IEBC servers are being hosted.

"We have our own servers hosted in the country and then we have the cloud servers," she stated.

She declined to comment on Commissioner Roselyn Akombe's sudden departure from the electoral body stating that she was entitled to her own personal observation

"As a commission, we don't want to focus on any negative, we are united and we'll address the issues after the election.

"There's no gap in decision making in the commission. Our commissioners are expected back where we will have a plenary meeting on Monday to make sure all the processes have been done," she maintained.

Her sentiments come a day after IEBC Presiding Officers and their deputies in Samburu County threatened to boycott October 26th election.

The officers staged protests and threatened to boycott the exercise if the commission fails to raise their allowances.

The Officials Spokesperson, James Lorogum, stated they had been paid Sh1,000 during a four-day training in Maralal town which equals to Sh250 per day. They demanded to be paid a four-day allowance of Sh4,000.
