Repent Before Calling for Prayers - Dida Tells Uhuru

Presidential candidate Abduba Dida on Sunday attacked President Uhuru Kenyatta for calling for a national prayer day ahead of the election.

According to Dida, the call for a prayer day by the President was hypocritical and as such he cannot take part in it.

He noted that leaders and Kenyans need to ask God for the forgiveness of their sins before going to Him in prayers.

“I see that as a blasphemy, before you pray first meet the conditions, there is a criteria… a whole government, everybody is complaining, you are stealing. If you have taken land bring back the land, if you have taken money if you have taken anything that belongs to me bring it back.

“And then when it is between you and God you have to stop the nonsense that you are doing when you remember it you have to regret and you have to promise God that you will never do it again. When you are done with the conditions of repentance is when you can comfortably ask God,” Dida told NTV.

Meanwhile, the national prayer day proceeded as planned in Nakuru with leaders calling upon the Almighty God to be with Kenya during next week's election.

President Kenyatta led the country in the prayers where he thanked God for His lands upon the country and prayed for peace.

Deputy President William Ruto on his part asked God to spare Kenya and forgive the country so that the citizens can receive His blessings.

"Let's be co-workers in building bridges of brotherhood and friendship. When we go before God, He answers our prayers.

"We have come a long way. Let us unite to build a one Kenya where no one will be left behind. Let us shun the politics of hate, tribalism, division and embrace what brings us together," the DP stated.
