President Uhuru Kenyatta Receives Special Request From Leaders in Ethiopia

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been asked to immediately append his signature to the Election Law (Amendment) Bills.

Speaking from Adis Ababa, Ethiopia, a delegation of Jubilee-allied politicians urged the President to sign the Bills into law to help create a favourable environment for the repeat presidential poll which takes place on Thursday.

Led by former Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba, the Council of Kenyan Professionals (CPK), advised President Kenyatta to sign the Bills into law to insulate the results of the October 26 election against annulment.

CPK has cautioned that without the Law Amendments, the country could be thrown into deeper Constitutional crisis should the repeat poll be nullified again.

The group has also asked the National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders to stop their attacks on the IEBC and its staff.

"We urge the opposition to respect the principle of competitive elections as the cornerstone of democracy and the only guarantee for democratic peace and stability.

"All Kenyans have a right to vote freely without threat of violence," Namwamba's statement read in part.

Prof. Peter Kagwanja, who delivered the statement on behalf of Mr Namwamba, revealed that the delegation had visited the African Union (AU) headquarters to file petitions against NASA leader Raila Odinga.

According to the professor, the team will continue to collect evidence that implicates Mr Odinga in a scheme to cause instability in Kenya.
