Jubilee's Alice Wahome Seeks Help From NASA MPs

Kandara MP Alice Wahome on Thursday asked National Super Alliance (NASA) legislators to help Jubilee end the current political statement by showing up at Parliament.

Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke, the Jubilee MP urged her NASA counterparts to join the National assembly and discuss issues to move the country forward.

"When they boycott Parliament, they are undermining the House even though it is independent of the executive. The issues between the President and Raila should not affect the business of the legislative branch.

"Why wouldn't they (NASA MPs) use opportunities to break the stalemate?" she conveyed.

She added that there were Supreme Court processes that would resolve the issues around the presidential election and in the meantime, the NASA MPs should carry out their duties which are representing their people's interest.

During an interview with Journalists on Wednesday, Ms Wahome recommended that the legislators should discuss whether extra positions can be created to accommodate poll losers.

"I believe there is room for [this]. Anyone can win today and lose tomorrow. We need to put our heads together and decide whether there is a serious dichotomy that makes our country ungovernable and what to do about it," she stated.

However, Opposition leader Raila Odinga directed all NASA MPs to cancel their activities and attend sessions at the county assemblies where the motion on the establishment of a People’s Assembly is expected to be discussed.

In a statement, Mr Odinga directed the legislators to support the course by attending the sittings where the motion would be debated.

He called on the Opposition MPs to also provide guidance regarding the motion to all county assembly representatives.
