Raila Went to US to Block Me From Being President - DP Ruto Declares

Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday attacked Opposition Leader Raila Odinga accusing him of seeking foreign help in his journey to State House.

According to the DP, Mr Odinga is using backdoor means to propel his 2022 presidential bid while blocking the Jubilee team's ambition.

In a tweet, DP Ruto laughed off at the former Prime Minister's speech from the US adding that the Opposition Chief went to the US to "scuttle the possibility of a son of a peasant from being elected president".

Mr Odinga on Thursday issued an address at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) headquarters in Washington where he noted that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) was not an avenue for war rather a means to advocate for dialogue among Kenyan citizens who weren't happy with the current government structure.

"NASA set up National Resistance Movement to push for peaceful dialogue on critical issues facing," he conveyed.

He maintained that the October 26th repeat election was not credible adding that IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati had confessed the same days before the polls were held.

"Electoral commission chairman, Mr Chebukati publicly confessed that he could not guarantee a free and fair election 8 days to the fresh poll," he stated.

He blasted foreign envoys in the country for 'supporting a flawed process" adding that the International community should engage and assist in solving the current crisis.

According to him, the call by National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) to create the post of a Prime Minister was a diversionary tactic meant to deflect from the real issues affecting Kenya's democracy.

"We are not looking for jobs. NCCK's proposal to create a post of Prime Minister is a “cheap way” of looking at it," he stated.

Mr Odinga further revealed that the Supreme Court judges were threatened before they could hear a case whether the repeat elections could proceed, causing a lack of quorum during the hearing and eventually the postponement of the case.
