Polycarp Igathe Gives More Details on Shooting of Winnie Odinga’s Driver.

NASA leader Raila Odinga's daughter, Winnie Odinga, divulged details on how her driver was on Tuesday hit by a teargas canister and was allegedly turned away at Mama Lucy Hospital where he sought treatment.

Ms Odinga stated that John Ogwati, the driver, was not attended to due to his affiliation to the Opposition.

“The staff upon seeing this group, which included John bleeding profusely from his head, informed the patient, ‘we don’t treat watu wa Baba hapa (we don’t treat Baba’s followers here),” Winnie’s post read in part.

She claimed that the staff refused to attend to Mr Ogwati because he had been rushed to hospital by his friends who were wearing ‘Resist T-shirts.’

However, Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe on Wednesday dismissed the claims stating that Mama Lucy Hospital serves all Kenyans.

He also expressed his concern due to the misinformation on the health facility and that it may be intended to trigger violent political retribution on the hospital.

“Allow me to clear the air about an article in the social media by one Winnie Odinga that we chased away NASA patients yesterday which is a lie, they were all attended to free of charge,” Igathe tweeted Dr. Musa Mohammed's (a Medical Superintendent at Mama Lucy Hospital) comment on the matter.

Police lobbed teargas at the Opposition supporters and leaders after sealing off the grounds where they were meant to hold a memorial service honoring their felled followers.

There were running battles witnessed between the officers and the followers leaving at least 5 people dead including a seven-year old child, Geoffrey Mutinda.

Mr. Odinga told his supporters that he will be sworn in on December 12, Jamhuri Day, by the People’s Assembly, hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy president William Ruto took oath of office.
