5 Gaza Gang Members Killed After Gun Battle With Police In Tala

Five members of the outlawed Gaza gang were killed by police after a deadly gun battle in Tala town.

The police raided their hideout on Saturday morning, and four members felled to their bullets while the fifth one shot himself after being cornered by members of the public.

According to police reports, a team of heavily armed security forces from the Flying Squad and Special Crime Unit under the command of CI Godhard Mburu trailed the suspects from Kayole to their hideout to Kathiani.

A fierce shootout ensued after the officers stormed the house they were in and leading to the immediate death of two suspects.

One suspect, however, managed to escape with a pistol that belonged to a police officer who was shot in the leg and scalded by water during the shootout.

However, members of the public gave chase and cornered the suspect who opted to shoot himself in the head.

At the same time, other members of the same gang engaged police in a shootout at Mwanyekeni market only three kilometers from Kathiani police station.

Police ganged down two suspects only identified as Teddy and Samuel alias ‘Mzito’ and a teacher named Shadrack Cheruiyot was caught in the crossfire.

Security forces recovered one pistol loaded with four rounds of 9mm ammunition, one homemade gun capable of firing and a mobile phone.

Moreover, the officer who was shot was treated and discharged from the Ruai Family Hospital and the bodies of the slain taken to Kangundo Level Four Hospital.
