David Kimaiyo Warns Raila of What Will Happen if He is Sworn in

Former Inspector-General of Police David Kimaiyo has warned National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga against proceeding with plans to be sworn in as the People's President, stating that the move would plunge the country into anarchy.

Kimaiyo urged the opposition to head to the courts if they felt that any injustice had been committed against them.

He stated: “My advice to the Opposition is to have trust in our courts. They should seek redress if they feel injustices were meted on them.

“In Kenya, the President is sworn-in after he is declared winner by the IEBC. Any other swearing-in will lead to anarchy. Leaders should respect the constitution," Kimaiyo continued.

The former police boss, who is nowadays a politician, also noted that for dialogue to take place, the swearing-in plan would have to be dropped entirely.

“It would be good for the two leaders to engage in a round-table dialogue so the country moves forward.

"Meaningful dialogue can take place when people stop talking about treasonable actions such as a swearing-in of a President not declared winner by the IEBC,” Kimaiyo conveyed.

He further asked Kenyans to move on from the electioneering period and focus on building the nation.

“The electoral campaign period has ended. I appeal to all Kenyans to coexist and focus on growing the economy," Kimaiyo stated.

Raila Odinga was to be sworn in as the People's President on December 12 but the opposition coalition on Sunday postponed the event.
