NASA Rejects Uhuru's Offer, Issues 1 New Demand

A section of National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders on Wednesday rejected President Uhuru Kenyatta's invitation to talks on how to improve service delivery.

The leaders; MPs John Mbadi, Opiyo Wandayi, and NASA Coordination head Johnson Muthama noted that President Kenyatta's invitation during Jamhuri days was "simple semantics made out of insincerity”.

Speaking to the Nation, the three leaders explained that they will only engage the Head of State on talks related to political matters and nothing else.

They explained that politics affected millions of Kenyans and as such, it should form the key issues of discussion.

"Dialogue must be on the outstanding political issues. There cannot be development if a government lacks the popular support of the people," Muthama stated.

Earlier this week,  the President invited the opposition to send forth its suggestions on how to improve the lives of Kenyans.

The Head of State explained that the political season was over adding that he was ready for dialogue with the opposition but with restrictions to economic matters.

He promised to work on uniting the country which had been divided during the electioneering period.

“If our competitors, the opposition, have any good ideas that can assist in making the lives of Kenyans better, they are welcome. We can talk, no one has a monopoly of ideas.

“Kenya belongs to all of us. We need to work together regardless of our political affiliations whether NASA or Jubilee. Elections are over and we need to come together and work jointly for the people,” he stated.
