Kenyans were on Thursday engaged in various heated discussions top among them the alleged tension between Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and his deputy Polycarp Igathe.

Using the topic "Igathe", netizens discussed screenshots leaked by the Governor of text messages exchanged between the two of them.

Many of those who read through the text messages were of the opinion that the DG appeared to be timid in his relations with the Governor.

Governor Sonko leaked the screenshots following a report by The Star claiming that the two county bosses had fallen out due to interference from State House.

According to the report, an intergovernmental committee at the President's office has been calling the shots when it comes to key County appointments, awarding of contracts and deciding which projects should be undertaken.

The report further alleged that President Kenyatta asked the Governor to let Igathe handle the running of the county's affairs while he (Sonko) focuses on city politics

Governor Sonko also received his fair share of the trolling as commentators called him out for sharing the screenshots with the personal contacts of his deputy along with that of Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga.

Gen Sossion/ CS Kandie/

Labour Cabinet Secretary Phylis Kandie and Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion dominated discussions on Thursday following an edict by the CS.

The Government representative ordered immediate vacation from office for a number of trade union officials who had acquired new positions in Parliament and county administration.

Mr Sossion, being a nominated MP from the Orange party, was among those ordered to step down as a trade union official.

In response to the order, Mr Sossion adamantly refused to leave his KNUT position claiming that the CS had no jurisdiction in matters pertaining to trade unions.
