Moses Kuria Organises Harambee to Pay Martha Karua Sh6.5 Million

Gatundu South legislator Moses Kuria on Wednesday announced that he will be conducting harambees to pay Sh 6.5 Million to Martha Karua after losing a defamation case.

The legislator, in a Facebook post, explained that he will traverse the entire country seeking help from his supporters.

He did not announce the date when the fundraisers will commence but revealed that the first meeting will be held at Kerugoya Stadium.

"Today, I was instructed by the court to pay child support amounting to Ksh 6.5 Million. I will be holding a series of Harambees across the country so that you, my supporters can help me.

"The first Harambee will be held at Kerugoya stadium in the next few weeks. The date will be announced here soon," Kuria posted.

Meanwhile, Justice Joseph Sergon on Wednesday awarded Karua the Sh6.5 Million for damages she had incurred.

The Narc-Kenya leader had moved to court seeking Sh20 million as damages from the Gatundu South legislator over his allegations that she procured witnesses to fix Deputy President William Ruto at the Hague.

In her case, the former Justice Minister submitted that the remarks made by Mr Kuria were malicious, unwarranted and defamatory.

She argued that the words used by the MP damaged her image and reputation, as well as her standing as a politician, businesswoman, family woman and an advocate.

Ms Karua told Justice Sergon that Mr Kuria made the remarks in Kapsokwony, Bungoma County, on September 21, 2015, at a political meeting “disguised as a prayer rally”.

She further told the court that she had never met Mr Kuria nor discussed anything to do with the procurement of fake witnesses for the International Criminal Court prosecutor.
