Raila Can Die if it Makes Him Happy - Mutahi Ngunyi

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on Wednesday stated that NASA leader Raila Odinga can go ahead and "die" if it makes him happy.

Ngunyi was responding to Odinga's remarks that he is ready to die after being sworn in if that is what it takes to end electoral injustice in Kenya.

"If Raila wants to DIE, No one has STOPPED him. He can DIE, if it MAKES him HAPPY. He does NOT need OUR Permission. But he should STOP 'Vitisho' (threats)," he posted.

Speaking at former Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze's burial on Tuesday, the former Premier dismissed warnings from Attorney-General Githu Muigai that he would be charged with treason, which is punishable by death.

Odinga stated: “If death is the price that we must pay that Kenyans get electoral justice, that there is no more election rigging in future, we are ready to pay that price."

Ngunyi remarked that Odinga was finished politically and had been misled by his co-principals in NASA.

He acknowledged that Odinga was a 'political genius' and had done everything right except winning the election.

The political analyst reiterated that the NASA leader's time was up and he should pack for his Bondo hometown.

Earlier this week, the United States, through acting secretary of state for African affairs Donald Yamamoto reiterated that there was no need for Odinga to form a separate government as it would be unhelpful.

In recent weeks, politicians allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA) maintained that they would swear in Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka.

“Forming a separate or parallel government is really unhelpful,” remarked Yamamoto.

He further pleaded with the former Prime Minister not to destroy his legacy as he was known for fighting for reforms.

“We’ve known the former Prime Minister over the years. He has a great story- the need for political reforms.

“He stands as a model for reform; he is famous for, noted for and respected for reforms,” added Yamamoto.
