Nursery School Pupil Commits Suicide in Nyakach

A nursery school pupil died in Nyakach, Kisumu County, after hanging himself in a toilet.

Mr Tobias Polo, the area chief, confirmed the incident noting that the entire village was shocked by the incident adding that investigations had been launched.

“It is sad that such a young boy could commit suicide. Police are investigating the matter and I urge residents to stop speculating,” he was quoted by The Standard.

According to the pupil's grandmother, the incident happened when they were working on plastering a mud house.

She explained that her grandson was helping in ferrying mud before he started complaining that the work was hard.

According to the grandmother, the deceased was unhappy with ferrying the mud and just went missing.

“He was upset and told me that one day he would build his own house. I was shocked when I went to the toilet and found his body,” he stated.

 The body was taken to St Jane Nyadero Nursing Home.

The news came as a shock to many since no case of a nursery school child committing suicide has ever been reported.

The area residents were left surprised since they could not understand how the boy could think of or even commit suicide.
