Boni Khalwale Asks EACC to go After Kidero

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Friday urged the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) to launch investigations into failed projects by Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and Machakos county boss Alfred Mutua.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader revealed that the Uhuru Highway and Mombasa Roads were fronts for corruption by the two County governments.

"Alfred Mutua who was the Government spokesman collected flowers and gravel to beautify the road and Dr Kidero spent Sh40 Million to put the Kidero grass which is now gone," he disclosed.

He explained that the beautification projects along the highway had no value for the counties as they had collapsed due to mismanagement.

"I am asking the EACC to do an audit of the projects where they will carry out a value for money for them. I am sure the value for money is going to be nil," Mr Khalwale conveyed.

The former Senator further questioned why trees were being cut down along Uhuru Highway.

"National Environmental and Management Authority (NEMA) should also tell us whether they are aware whether the trees are being cut," he told Kenyans.co.ke on the phone.

Earlier in December, Governor Mutua was attacked for what Kenyans described as him 'painting' roads in the county.

Lawyer Donald Kipkorir took to his social media accusing the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader of deceiving the people with his tarmacking project.

"Alfred Mutua is giving people of Machakos painted road and calls it Tarmac. It’s time Kenyans demand what is promised. It is called selling snake oil and it is Corruption!" Lawyer Kipkorir tweeted.

In 2015, the former Nairobi Governor came under criticism over the 'Kidero grass' which he planted before former US President Barrack Obama's visit into the country.

Kenyans on Twitter found the grass planted along the CBD - allegedly meant to grow within three days - humorous, taking a swipe at Dr Kidero for the poor planning.
