Drama as Youth Demand Raila to Take Oath in Busia

There was drama on Saturday evening after a group of youth ambushed Opposition Leader Raila Odinga with a Bible demanding for his immediate inauguration at the burial of the late Professor Calestous Juma in Budalangi, Busia County.

The youth marched forward when the former Prime Minister started addressing the mourners and demanded that he takes an oath of office as the People's President.

The sentiments of the youth were echoed by Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua who noted that Mr Odinga should accept the Bible and take the oath.

She promised that her county was ready to offer the inauguration venue adding that Mr Odinga's swearing-in will appease voters who voted for him in the August Election.

"We want you to be sworn in as soon as possible so that our country can progress and move on. We don't care where our statehouse will be, even if it will be in the garage we don't care as long as we have a president.

"We wish you could take the oath before you officially launch the Western people's assembly," Mutua was quoted by the Star.

Mr Odinga, however, failed to take the oath but assured the residents that his time to be inaugurated will come soon adding that he was still focused on ensuring that he delivers Kenyans to the promised land.

"You have all seen them giving me a bible, but I have told them that will be another day. For now, I want to assure all Kenyans that our journey to Canaan is on course whether they like it or not," he stated.

This is the second time Mr Odinga has been given a Bible by his supporters to take the oath of office.

In December 2017 while launching the Coastal region People's Assembly a section of legislators from the area also gave the Opposition Chief a bible but he declined to be inaugurated.
