National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga on Sunday presided over the first people's assembly consultative forum in the coastal region.

Addressing the assembly, NASA Strategist David Ndii stated that the coalition would remain on course in the plan to swear in Mr Odinga.

"Nasa remains steadfast the recent polls were conducted in a flawed manner. If they persist, we will insist on our self-determination process and secede, we need to control the country's resources. Holding such forums is our constitutional right and so we shouldn't be threatened.

"NASA says the Peoples Assemblies will not compete with state instruments nor replace various County Assemblies. Our end game is to deliver a free fair democratic process in a bid to obtain electoral justice or secede," he explained.

Also in attendance were Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi. Other leaders from the region were also in attendance.

Earlier on Saturday, NASA CEO Norman Magaya stated that the opposition chief would be inaugurated before the new year.

Mr Magaya noted that everything was on course regarding Mr Odinga's swearing-in adding that the coalition had not relented on its reform agenda.

“It certainly cannot go beyond 2017, and so we are talking about this happening within the next 10 days or so. We have to end the culture of electoral impunity once and for all and in this year,” Magaya was quoted by Standard.

Earlier on Sunday, Members of Parliament from the Coastal region threatened to ditch the opposition coalition expressing frustration from the opposition party after the region was sidelined during the nominations to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
