Jubilee Advised How to Stop Raila's Swearing-in Plan

Narok North MP Moitalel Ole Kenta has urged Jubilee Party leaders to soften their stance and meet NASA leader Raila Odinga if they want to prevent chaos on January 30.

This comes after Opposition leaders stated Odinga would be sworn in by the end of the month and will follow a strict programme drawn by his advisers.

Speaking during a function in his home area, Mr Moitalel stated the country is greater than the interests of Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta and called for the leaders to dialogue.

“Uhuru should swallow his pride and meet Raila. Our country is bigger than the two. We need a dialogue similar to what happened following the 2007/2008 post-election violence that threatened to tear our country apart.

"We do not want the peace we have been enjoying to be interrupted. Whenever there is a crisis, it is the vulnerable, women and children, who suffer. We don't want this to happen," stated the MP.

There was drama on Saturday evening after a group of youth ambushed Odinga with a Bible demanding for his immediate inauguration at the burial of the late Professor Calestous Juma in Budalangi, Busia County.

The youth marched forward when the former Prime Minister started addressing the mourners and demanded that he takes an oath of office as the People's President.

The sentiments of the youth were echoed by Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua who noted that Mr Odinga should accept the Bible and take the oath.

Mr Odinga, however, failed to take the oath but assured the residents that his time to be inaugurated will come soon adding that he was still focused on ensuring that he delivers Kenyans to the promised land.

"You have all seen them giving me a bible, but I have told them that will be another day. For now, I want to assure all Kenyans that our journey to Canaan is on course whether they like it or not," he stated.
