Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi and his students from the Fort Hall school of Government have stated that Deputy President William Ruto does not need the Kikuyu vote to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta come 2022.
His remarks come after Nyeri town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu claimed that Central Kenya cannot guarantee DP Ruto votes during the 2022 election.
One of Prof. Ngunyi’s students affirmed that Ruto will become President come 2022 with or without the support of the Kikuyu nation.
“With or without the Kikuyu Nation, Ruto will become President. And this is what intellectual simpletons like Ngunjiri do not get,” the student stated.

"And if the Kikuyus will betray Ruto, the entire country will regiment against them and make Ruto President in annoyance. Then the Kikuyus will be banished from politics forever. They will find themselves looking for David Ndii to show them how to do succession,” the student added.
Mr. Ngunyi, speaking via his YouTube channel, stated that Kikuyu’s were honorable people and "they will be true to you if you are true to them".
He gave an illustration of National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga, whom he stated would have become President if he stood firm with former Head of State Mwai Kibaki.
Ngunyi further maintained that DP Ruto had been consistent with his loyalty citing that he delivered 2013 and 2017 elections and remained true to the Kikuyu community.
Mutahi also questioned the loyalty of the Nyeri legislator and mocked him to take a DNA test to establish where his gene of dishonesty came from.
“William Ruto has been consistent, he delivered 2013 and 2017 and he has been true to the GEMA Nation; he has earned their trust. And because Kikuyu’s are honorable people, I’m inviting Ngunjiri Wambugu to do a DNA test, he should establish where his gene for dishonesty came from. It is not a GEMA gene, at least not in politics,” Ngunyi remarked.
