Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot has declared a push for constitutional change in order to have the number of Members of Parliament in the Senate and National Assembly reduced from the current 416 to 194.
Through a social media campaign, 'ReduceParliament', which is gaining traction, Mr Aukot is proposing a formula that will see a man and woman elected from each of the 47 counties, bringing the number to 94 members in the National Assembly.
He stated that he wants the same formula used in electing members of the Senate.
Mr Aukot added that he wants senators to be given veto powers unlike in the current case where the House plays second fiddle to the National Assembly.

However, despite the proposal exciting the public and civil society organisations regarding the MPs excesses, it is bound to rub the lawmakers the wrong way.
Currently, the National Assembly has 349 members while the senate has 67 members.
The numbers include 12 nominated members in the National Assembly and 20 in the Senate.
Aukot is also proposing to have the 12 nomination slots reduced to six, and limited only to the National Assembly.
The former presidential candidate had two-weeks ago called for applications from Kenyans interested to join his shadow Cabinet.

He indicated that he was going through the résumés of different applicants to consider those who would join his team.
Mr Aukot is however yet to announce his 'cabinet' members.
