Police Tear gas NASA MPs [PHOTOS]

National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders were on Wednesday evening teargassed by police while they went to demand the release of Ruaraka MP Tom Kajwang.

Police confronted the legislators in order to disperse them after arriving at the PCIO where the MP was being held.

According to Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, the lawmakers had presented themselves as advocates to inquire why Kajwang had been arrested.

However, the officers claimed that the lawmakers could not be let in since the area is not a police station.

At this point, Amollo stated that the officers lobbed teargas cannisters and in the ensuing melee, some of the MPs sustained injuries.

Kajwang was arrested in the afternoon by the flying squad officers.

He was picked up outside Milimani Law Courts and taken to Nairobi PCIO near Integrity Center.

Among the lawmakers were Suba South MP John Mbadi, Homa Bay women representative Gladys Wanga among others.

Kajwang, alongside National Resistant Movement (NRM) General Miguna Miguna, on Tuesday administered NASA leader Raila Odinga's oath as the People's President.

He arrived at the event fully robed hours before Raila made his way to the park.

Reacting to the arrest, MP Otiende Amollo stated on Twitter: "So, now they have arrested TJ Kajwang, for merely being present during swearing-in of the People's President."
