CS Balala Exposes Media's Role in NASA's Plan to Cause Chaos

Tourism Cabinet Secretary (CS) Najib Balala on Friday explained the media's role in National Super Alliance (NASA's) plan to cause chaos during the swearing-in of Raila Odinga at Uhuru Park.

Speaking at Lake Ol bolossat area in Nyandarua county, he claimed that opposition leaders planned to create chaos and then use the media to propagate the lie that Kenya is burning Kenya yet is a "very peaceful country."

During the event to celebrate World Wetlands Day where he was representing the president as the chief guest, he noted that the inauguration of Mr Odinga was not taken lightly by the Government indicating: " we don’t take it lightly because such circuses amount to breaking the law."

He made these remarks while refuting the calls for dialogue with the Opposition arguing that the Jubilee regime would only focus on its four-point agenda which includes: affordable housing, health care for all, manufacturing and food security and value addition.

"Don’t tell us to dialogue. Dialogue entails accepting that a head of state was sworn-in on November 28 and the only person who can swear him in is the Chief Justice," he stated.

He insisted that the country would not be shaken as the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i fully understood the law.

"The opposition should not lecture the government on matters law because the government is well-versed with what the constitution and the rule of law are all about," he remarked.

Balala also accused the Raila Odinga-led team of breaching the Constitution by selective application of its dictates yet the government "religiously" abides by it.

“If you want to select and choose what rule of law to follow or not, you are not respecting the constitution. In the constitution, there is no selection. You are hypocrites. You are talking about dialogue. What dialogue?" he posed.
