Embakasi East MP Babu Owino Apologizes to Miguna Miguna

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino on Wednesday issued an apology to lawyer Miguna Miguna through social media posts.

The MP stated that he, along with all National Super Alliance (NASA) members of the 12th Parliament, had failed the self-proclaimed General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Without specifying how the elected leaders had failed their NRM counterpart, the MP's followers were left to speculate that his Tuesday night deportation was the reason.

The posts elicited mixed reactions from followers with some calling the Opposition to firmly respond to the deportation as others advised MP Babu not to trust the former gubernatorial candidate, quoting excerpts of his "Peeling Back the Mask" book.

The vocal MP is among 12 Opposition affiliated individuals who moved to court seeking to be granted an anticipatory bail order to prevent the police from arresting them.

The expression of goodwill was granted by the High Court and the 12 were ordered to report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday.

Babu's counterparts are Businessman Jimi Wanjigi, Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay Woman Rep), Economist David Ndii, Oduor Ong'wen, NASA CEO Norman Magaya, James Orengo (Siaya Senator), Simba Arati (Dagoretti North MP), Hassan Joho (Mombasa Governor), George Khaniri (Senator Vihiga), George Aladwa (Makadara MP) and Cleophas Malala (Senator Kakamega).

Lawyer Miguna Miguna was arrested on Friday at his Runda home and stayed in police custody through to Tuesday when Justice Luka Kimaru granted his release.

He revealed that while in custody, he was denied opportunities to speak with his family, lawyers and even politicians.
