Tuju Reveals The Special Role he Will Play as CS

Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has revealed the role he will play as a Cabinet Secretary in President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration.

Tuju divulged that he would only appear at cabinet meetings on invitation to address specific issues.

As such, Tuju will have no ministerial office, neither the trappings of power that come with it.

“It is important that the party’s position, aspirations, beliefs and ideology are represented in the running of Government otherwise we won’t meet what we promised the people,” Tuju stated.

Tuju maintained that his position was intended to enhance the Jubilee Party’s role in government, noting his mission was to help ministers align their programmes towards the party’s manifesto.

When President Kenyatta unveiled his second term cabinet on January 26, 2018, he announced that he had chosen Tuju into the cabinet on a need basis.

Tuju was, however, not subjected to the rigorous vetting progress as his ‘fellow’ CS nominees were sweating it out at Parliament on Friday afternoon.

The cabinet vetting concluded on Friday, February 9, with nine ministerial hopefuls facing the Appointments committee.

President Kenyatta announced the list of 31 Principal Secretaries across the 21 ministries two weeks ago but their vetting is yet to begin.
