The August 8 General Election witnessed a number of Governors being sent home. With the sudden change in status, the former county bosses have resorted to various new ventures.
Whereas some of the former governors have quietly retreated back to their families, others have fallen back to their professions.
Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has finally explained what he has been upto since he failed to clinch his gubernatorial seat.
Speaking to Daily Nation, the former Governor stated that he has resorted to embarking into community voluntary work since according to him, "development starts from the grassroots."
“I want to assist locals to farm through cooperative societies, especially in the dairy sector which has great potential in the region,” Ruto noted.
The former National Super Alliance (NASA) principal added: "I just want to recoup in the lost time with family and continue with my businesses."
He also disclosed that he runs various businesses between his homes in Tumoi, Chepalungu, Kericho, and Nairobi.
However, Mr Ruto remained tight-lipped on mentioning about his political plans.

Former Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu
Mruttu has delved into agriculture as he awaits the 2022 campaigns, hoping to get back his seat, which he lost to Mr Granton Samboja, this time on a Jubilee ticket.
The former county chief has endeavoured into managing his vast banana plantation located in his Taveta home.
Besides banana farming, Mruttu also rears rabbits, chicken, and doves at his home.

Former Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi
Mr Cheboi told Daily Nation that after his loss, he has been focusing on personal matters and family.
The former chief executive of the Higher Education Loans Board noted that he is ready to serve Kenyans in any capacity given a chance.
"If Kenyans want to tap into my experience as a manager, I’m ready for them,” declared Mr Cheboi.

Former Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu
Mr Irungu launched a multi-million dairy farming project amid an election petition, whose verdict will be ruled next week on Wednesday.
Current county boss, Ndiritu Muriithi, won the sit with a margin of less than 2, 000 votes.
“In case the court nullifies Mr Muriithi’s win and the voters ask me to contest in a subsequent by-election, I will honour their request,” announced Mr Irungu.

Former Nyeri Governor Samuel Wamathai
Wamathai disclosed that he has taken time off work and politics to rejuvenate.
“I have been working continuously for a long time and I have just taken some time to rest and put my house in order,” he stated.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Air and Space law from McGill University in Canada and works as a part-time consultant with the United Nations on matters related to Civil Aviation.

Former Tana River Governor Hussein Dado
Mr Dado, who currently lives in his Odda home in Garsen, has ventured into pastoralism, community welfare issues and a keen focus on his family.
He was, however, nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta as the Chief Administrative Secretary for Devolution.
