Don’t Give Isaac Ruto a CS Position- Uhuru Warned

Bomet Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have warned President Uhuru Kenyatta against rewarding former Governor Isaac Ruto with a Cabinet Secretary job.

At a press conference in Bomet on Friday, the MCAs stated that Ruto should not be rewarded because he did not support Jubilee in the August 8 election.

Led by Embomos MCA Robert Serbai, the over 20 ward representatives told President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto not to consider the former governor because he faced corruption allegations.

“We all know him, He misused public funds in Bomet and residents cannot tolerate him anymore,” Serbai remarked.

The MCAs were supported by former Senator Wilfred Lesan, who accused Mr Ruto of being “a wolf in sheepskin.”

There was talk that Ruto could be appointed to the Cabinet as Deputy President William Ruto sought to consolidate support ahead of his 2022 Presidential bid.

Demands to reward loyalists, ensure regional balance, uphold integrity and to appease the Opposition without upsetting succession politics weigh heavily on the president as he crafts his new Cabinet.

Both President Uhuru and DP Ruto were alleged to have wooed some politicians to join Jubilee ahead of the repeat polls, promising them Cabinet appointments.

However, State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu stated that he will not be drawn into discussing when the President will announce the Cabinet.

“When the President is ready, I am sure he will announce; for now, I can’t speculate,” Mr Esipisu stated.
