President Kenyatta Asks for Donations, Kenyans Challenge Him

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday asked Kenyans to donate blood at Kenya International Conference Centre (KICC) as a show of love on Valentine's day.

The Head of State urged Kenyans to support the blood drive by Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service (KNBTS) to save lives.

"I encourage you to performs acts of love and compassion that show consideration to others. You can #ShowYourLove by donating blood at #TheKICCValentinePlot," he tweeted.

Kenyans were quick to react to the post with many challenging the president to donate blood before asking Kenyans to do the same.

"Why don't be in the front line in donating," one user challenged.

While another wrote: "Thanks for the encouraging word but, I will be pleased to see you donate blood for your Nation."

President Kenyatta was Tuesday engaged in a meeting with Senators allied to the Jubilee party.

He emphasized the need for Senators to play their oversight role effectively to ensure devolution succeeded in transforming the lives of Kenyans.

He affirmed that the success of his Big Four agenda - (food security, affordable housing, manufacturing and affordable Healthcare for all) depended on effective drafting and passage of relevant legislation.

As the president handled the meeting, Senior government officials including Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala and Health CS Sicily Kariuki donated blood during the exercise drive which was advertised to run from 6 am and 10 pm.
