Nairobi MCAs Lose Positions Over Plan to Destroy Sonko's Gov't

Jubilee Members of County Assembly (MCAs) affiliated to the Jubilee Party on Thursday announced that two of their colleagues would lose their positions over allegations of jeopardizing Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's operations.

The MCAs, led by Majority Leader Abdi Guyo, stated that Maringo MCA Mark Ndung'u and his Dandora counterpart Charles Thuo would lose their positions as chairpersons of house committees over allegations of working with former Kamukunji MP Simon Mbugua against Governor Sonko.

Jubilee MCAs unanimously came to this decision to de-whip Ndung'u, who is the chairperson of the Transport committee, and Thuo, who is the head of the Trade committee over their misconduct.

“As a disciplinary measure, we have decided to discharge them from their respective committees,” Guyo stated.

The two ward representatives had been faulted by their colleagues for working with the Opposition to jeopardize the Party leadership in the Assembly.

Mr Guyo revealed that he was allegedly threatened after debating the motion of Mbugua's role in County affairs on Tuesday.

During the Tuesday motion, the MCAs claimed that the former MP, who was recently elected to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), of interfering with county affairs and threatening members of the executive.

According to the MCAs, the EALA MP had been threatening them alongside other staff at city hall claiming that he is the Governor's right-hand man.

However, in a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke,  Mr Mbugua denied that he is running the show at the County Hall.

He maintained that he was not meddling in the City's affairs being a close friend of Governor Sonko.

"While I am a great friend to the hardworking Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, I have never in any way meddled in the operations of the county," Mbugua affirmed.
