The proposed budgetary allocation for 2018/19 financial year will see Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) Fred Matiang'i and James Macharia take control of over Sh500 Billion cumulatively for their respective ministries.
Matiang'i, who is the CS in-charge of the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, is set to be allocated Sh286.7 Billion.
His Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development counterpart, CS Macharia, is set to control even a bigger share with Sh301 Billion set aside for his Ministry.
According to the proposed figures, their combined allocation will make up 30 percent of the total budget.

The reason behind these seemingly huge allocations is that these two ministries are considered pivotal in the success of President Uhuru Kenyatta's 'Big Four Agenda' that is set to be the hallmark of his administrations legacy during his final term.
For instance, the Interior docket alone will have an allocation of Sh130.8 Billion while the Correctional Services that falls within the Ministry is set to receive Sh27.4 Billion.
An additional Sh28.5 Billion is set aside for the National Intelligence Service in the Interior Ministry.
In CS Macharia's docket, the bulk of the money is expected to go towards the completion of capital projects such as the second phase of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), as well as construction and upgrading of seaports and airports.
Improved infrastructure and affordable housing are among the priorities of President Kenyatta's final term in office hence making CS Macharia's docket a critical pillar.
The infrastructure projects are expected to impact highly on poverty reduction, equity and employment creation and include the works under the maritime and shipping affairs and public works departments.
Besides improving National Security to enable the 'Big Four' agenda, CS Matiang'i is expected to oversee the coordination and implementation of the projects.

Other Ministries involved in the legacy projects are the Ministry of Agriculture set to receive Sh46.9 Billion, Ministry of Health with an allocation of Sh69.9 Billion.
In addition, the Ministry of Energy is expected to receive Sh74.8 Billion, ICT Sh31.2 Billion and Investment and Industry Sh10.2 Billion all expected to spur the manufacturing activity.
