Kalonzo Musyoka Takes up job in Governor Charity Ngilu's Team

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Monday took up the role of lead counsel in Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu's legal team as she appeared at the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) offices to answer to incitement charges.

The Wiper Governor had been summoned over incitement speech purported to have been uttered in Mutha area, Kitui, where she allegedly told residents to stop trucks transporting charcoal from the county.

Kalonzo will lead a team of six lawyers including MPs Daniel Maanzo (Makueni), Makali Mulu (Kitui Central), Patrick Makau (Mavoko), Joshua Mwalyo (Masinga), Danson Mwashako (Wundanyi) and Makueni speaker Douglas Mbilu in readiness to defend Ngilu against the claims.

"We congratulate Ngilu for having to blow the whistle. you don't punish the whistleblower, Ngilu can't clearly get one community to fight against the other community.

"People must be held responsible. Right now the entire Kamba region is dry due to charcoal burning. If this is not controlled Kenya will be declared a desert," the Wiper leader stated.

He added that NCIC should not be misused to pull down leaders trying to protect water sources and other natural resources.

"What happens if there is no rain? Is the Jubilee government ready to feed the citizens of this country? Imagine myself that the news will be around water resources. So these are the issues we must deal with," he explained.

Earlier last week, the Kitui Governor obtained court orders restraining the police from arresting her.

The Kitui County boss went to court and granted Sh50,000 anticipatory bail to prevent her arrest over allegations of arousing ethnic animosity.

Ngilu was accused of targetting certain communities in the protests against charcoal burning and sand harvesting business in Kitui.
