COTU Boss Francis Atwoli Explains What Uhuru and Raila Should Have Done Before Handshake

Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli on Saturday stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga should have met with him first before signing the unity pact on March 9.

Atwoli further noted that the leaders should learn to listen to him when he raises matters affecting most Kenyans.

In a statement issued by the COTU boss, Atwoli exclaimed: "Cotu holds that if the two leaders had met earlier, the country could be more stable. Thus Kenyans and leaders should learn to listen to the workers' voice and reason with the appeals that Cotu demands."

He asserted: "I thank God that our appeal has come to pass. The two leaders have to continue uniting Kenyans and lead them in one right direction."

While applauding the unity pact between the two leaders, the Secretary-General mentioned that so far the country has witnessed drastic changes since the handshake.

"The meeting increased confidence in the economy. This will translate into an increased number of tourists and a rise in direct foreign investment hence job creation," expressed Atwoli.

He also added that there is need to have the leaders assure netizens that they will never take the country back to where it was.
