Moses Wetangula Issues Statement on Miguna Miguna Deportation Saga

NASA co-principal Moses Wetang'ula has hit out at the government over the attempt to re-deport self-styled National Resistance Movement (NRM) general Miguna Miguna that resulted in a nine-hour stand-off at JKIA on Monday.

In an exclusive conversation with Kenyans.co.ke on Tuesday morning, Wetang'ula described the government's latest move as an illegality that has no place in the country.

"It's unfortunate, its unconstitutional. Its an illegality. It should never be allowed to happen in any modern state.

"It's an injustice. Miguna is a Kenyan citizen and he should be treated as such," Wetang'ula stated.

NASA leader Raila Odinga, Siaya Senator James Orengo and businessman Jimi Wanjigi were among leaders who made their way to JKIA on Monday night.

Wetang'ula rubbished comments by a section of NASA supporters online attacking him along with co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi for failing to show solidarity with Miguna.

"How can I support an illegality?" he posed.

The move to re-deport Miguna to Dubai on Monday failed after he refused to board the Emirates plane he had been bundled in by police.

Miguna told the Captain that there was no way he would board the plane against his will, proceeding to explain why the Government was out to deport him despite court orders compelling them to return his Kenyan passport.

He spent the night at the airport and his lawyers revealed that he had not eaten for 24 hours.

On Tuesday morning, the Ministry of Immigration announced that they had dispatched documents to JKIA that would allow Miguna to regularize his citizenship status.
