Eugene Wamalwa, Rashid Achesa Vow to Join Musalia Mudavadi in Uniting "Mulembe Nation"

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and his Sports counterpart Rashid Achesa have declared support for Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula's plan to leave the National Super Alliance (NASA).

They vowed to join forces with the two opposition leaders to unite the Luhya people ahead of the 2022 political season.

The leaders added that they were working to create a new political initiative soon after the Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford-Kenya parties fold out of the NASA coalition.

CS Wamalwa, however, cautioned the leaders against forming a tribal bloc advocating for a national outlook to the unity deal.

"We thank our brothers Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula because they have now called us to unite. Let them now look beyond ANC and Ford-K and beyond forming a Luhya party," Wamalwa stated.

CS Achesa added: "Even if all Luhya people voted in an election, would we even manage to get the deputy president slot? Not at all, that's why we need friends.

"We need our friends from Rift Valley, we need Central Kenya and we need the Coast region, that is how you form the government," Achesa observed.

Mumias East Member of Parliament Benjamin Washiali added that, had there been unity in the Western region, then the Bungoma Senator would not have lost his post in the Senate.

Senator Wetangula and Deputy President William Ruto are said to be warming up to each other after the DP met with Ford-K Secretary-General Eseli Simiyu days after Wetangula was ousted.

The new call for collaboration has been interpreted by political analysts as a 2022 strategy.
